Affordable Family Safari, Zambia

Customer Testimonials:

Andrew was my family's guide for our very first safari. Since I was born and raised in the USA (where animals live in zoos!) I didn't know quite what to expect.  From the moment we met him, Andrew's whole demeanor put us all at ease.  He is incredibly knowledgeable, very funny, respectful, instantly likeable and genuine. His love for nature and for the amazing animals of South Luangwa National Park left a lasting impact on myself and my family--it was unquestionably the highlight of our trip to Africa.

--Jay, San Francisco, California, USA

Andy was our guide during our family trip to Zambia last summer. He was so funny and so chill. I liked the stories he told us about his family and about what it was like growing up in a small Zambian village.  Andy has the best laugh too...when he laughs it makes everyone want to laugh!  You can tell that he really loves the animals - and he knew literally everything about them.

--Ashly, high school student, USA.

I went to Zambia last summer to visit some friends who were living there, and arranged to take my first ever safari. WOW!  It was nearly beyond description.  Andrew was our guide, and he was really the best you could ever hope for.  Andrew was funny, friendly, smart, and he knew everything you could possibly want to know about the animals, birds, trees, even the insects. I felt safe with him, even when watching the lions!  I highly recommend any safari guided trip with Andrew.

--Christopher, Los Angeles, California, USA

My children and I did a 4X4 safari in Zambia led by Andrew, and it was the best part of our trip by far -- not just for me but for my kids as well.  As any parent knows, teenagers can sometimes be tough to impress (!) but they were both amazed with the wildlife we saw and with Andrew's knowledge about them.  We loved his stories about Zambian customs, food, and about growing up in Zambia.  We spent many hours on safari with Andrew during our 3 day stay, and he drove us around in comfort and safety.  We felt safe even during the nighttime lion viewing safaris!  Andrew is a true professional and has my vote for the best safari guide in Africa!

Lunch often includes a variety of salads, freshly baked bread, rice, pasta, or gourmet sandwiches, and soft drinks, juice or water.

Dinner is served at 8PM after returning from the evening safari, and may be served in the New Dream Cottage or out under the stars at our new Riverbend Bush Camp along the Luangwa River. We are happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions and preferences--just let us know.

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS:

Optional evening safari: $40 each

Optional walking safari with rifleman guide: $50 each

OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS--TWO OPTIONS:

OPTION 1) Private accommodation at our New Dream Cottages or OPTION 2) at our Riverbend Bush Camps is included. The cottages are solid structures (houses) that also include free high-speed internet and kitchen facilities.  All beds have mosquito netting, and we have modern plumbing, western-style toilets, showers, hot water etc. The Bush Camps are located along the river and are more rustic and closer to nature, but still include comfortable beds (with bed nets), toilets, sinks and showers. Both are excellent options.

NOT INCLUDED: The Zambian government charges and collects a fee to support wildlife conservation and important anti-poaching work to each person entering the South Luangwa National Park, currently $30 USD (less for Zambian residents). This will be collected by the Park Officials directly from the passengers, and is thus not included in our fees.

$20 USD per person transport fee from (or back to) the Mfuwe Airport (MFU).

We support the education of Zambian children:

The last three years have been incredibly hard for all of Africa, and especially hard on African children.  We request a $5 per person (optional) donation to help Zambian children afford their school fees. Government schools only cost about $90 USD per year, but that is an impossible challenge for many villagers. Are you interested in visiting a local elementary school? Let us know in advance; this would be a great learning & cultural experience, especially if you have children.

Payment and Logistics:

10% of the total is due at the time of booking, payable by arrangement with management (often Western Union is used).  Pay the rest upon arrival in cash or Travelers Checks (US dollars) in person to Andrew our Chief Safari Guide, whom you will recognize from his photo on this website.

Pay only your 10% of the total trip cost now to hold your reservation, the rest is due upon arrival.

We accept payment through Western Union. Contact us for more information.
